Georgia peaches. The gentleman stuck these in my shopping cart last night. The first of the season. Ridiculously juicy and sweet.And pretty enough for an impromptu still life.

ReplyDeleteLoved the snippet and your modern Dutch-like still life. In my hometown someone always took a trip to Colorado to bring home bushels of peaches which always set off days of peeling and making up jams, preserves and for the more daring: brandied (BRANDY in what started out as a dry state???!!!) peaches. Still remember the sweet smell and the sticky delicious runs all over our faces and hands. Enjoy the sweet days.

hbd ~ don't you love how certain things bring back the most wonderful memories. There is a recipe in my "Modern Canning" book for peach preserves with lemon thyme. I think I am going to try it (with a little help). If it works, you get a jar!
Pleased to see that your page had a real, hand-tied bow tie - but of course that was entirely consistent with the deeply authentic feel of the entire event :)

ReplyDeleteEmile ~ yes! I found the bowtie at a vintage store in Baltimore. My nephew was so proud of it, he actually wore it to school one day!
