The vegetable garden was just beginning to stir, but there were irises and coral bells in bloom, and fragrant chives. We came home with armfuls of peonies and fresh rhubarb ~ little reminders of those long summer days in western Michigan.
Three delicious bits of seasonal bounty:
* Keiko Oikawa (thanks to Emile for this link!)
* green gazpacho
* and Donna Hay's Seasons!
And tomorrow. . . a peek inside the old house in Michigan!
I hope you all had a good weekend.
Really lovely Janet! A beautiful setting

ReplyDeleteLovely photos! I have tons of peonies right now - so beautiful and fragrant. It's so unfair that their season is so short! Thank you (and Emilie) for the link to Keiko's site - what exquisite work!!
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying the antique processing in your Michigan photos, it suits the subject and the place. Can't wait to see more of your interior shots and the gentleman's handiwork.
ReplyDeleteArmloads! I'm envious!
ReplyDeleteExcept for hydrangea, crepe myrtle and a few flowering vines, we're shifting from blossoms to all green down here. But I've been looking at the UK's Gardens Illustrated for a peony fix.
Sounds like you had a wonderfully relaxing time -- I'm so glad.
Can't wait to see inside!
ReplyDeletequintessence ~ thank you! I hope you like the peek inside.
ReplyDeletemom ~ I was using my iPhone, as I forgot the charger for my other camera (and so had to conserve the battery). The Istagram is lots of fun!
Courtney ~ the peonies are just opening up today and smell divine. The trip wasn't exactly relaxing, but certainly productive!
Stefan ~ the inside is fabulous.
I still have that issue of Donna Hay magazine that is the source for the cover photo of the cookbook. Does anyone style food better than that publication?! Looking forward to more Midwestern posts.
