up north

Over the weekend we took a quick trip up north to see about a house. And I was able to explore our new town for the first time. It may seem strange to say (given that I have spent a lot of time in Maine), but before Saturday I had never actually visited York. The sea shimmered under bright, sunny skies, and the lilacs were laden with purple blossoms. Maine at its best. No doubt we will spend many hours exploring this strip of coastline over the years, and the subtlety of the place will reveal itself slowly. But these first images are pure light and color.

This is how York greeted us.

  4. And I'm dropping by for a drink when KDM visits :-)I'll bring a good bottle.

Seriously, what an adventure---I love exploring the various Yorks---many wonders, scenic, architectural, historical. And so conveniently close to Boston, the wonders of Portsmouth (you've gotta go see the smalt room at McPheadris-Warner) And gee, little more than half an hour from the restaurants of Portland...this is going to be too much fun!

  5. So very excited for you and the gentleman as you take off on this new adventure. I can't wait to see what your life in Maine brings and will live vicariously through your pictures until we come to visit. Maybe we'll have to time it with KDM - already looks like you have quite a party planned then ;)

My favourite state, but of course we in Nova Scotia are sisters and brothers across the Gulf of Maine - I love the light in the Atlantic Northeast!
