little inspirations

It has been a long winter, and my waist line has, I am afraid . . . ((expanded)) slightly. So, Schulie Madnick's new food posts over on Department of Interior come none too soon ~ culinary inspirations from my own farmers market no less! Simple, tasty foods, using local ingredients. I also love this recipe from Jamie Oliver ~ a healthy twist on a personal favorite (fettuccine with asparagus).

Over the weekend I treated myself to the March issue of Elle Decoration (uk edition), and fell in love with artist Claire Basler's studio home. Such a wonderful use of an industrial space. You can catch a glimpse here.

Love this! Could live in this industrial space...without the cat on the table. So allergic on many levels. My new kitchen will be industrial glam. As long I do the cooking, my husband could care less what it looks like. I think it will be fun.

My winterness has expanded as well...I usually try to limit my carbs, but I'm blaming it on being snowbound for three months. Carbs are healthier than mind-numbing drugs, but they do prefer to sit on my hips. To the garden!

hbd ~ ha ha...I TRY to avoid carbs, but have found it is a losing battle. However, I love the idea that that recipe is packed with veggies (so I think it is okay). Spring can't come soon enough....

Oh, and I am with you on the cat thing.

I'm so bad at buying locally grown and really need to get educated on seasonal items/farmers etc. I think it hit me the other day as I was eating strawberries and they were so so covered in wax to make them shine it was gross.

Shulie is awesome -- fresh, local ingredients + beautiful photography.

Thanks for the shoutout! (P.S. for now Shulie's posting schedule on DOI is twice every 6 weeks, but you can always check out her blog directly!)
