I always plan to take on so much in January. Thank you notes. Over-ambitious reading lists. Catching up on emails to friends. Organizing the apartment. Here it is the 10th and I have done none of it. I am surrounded by a pile of tissues, and the gentleman is flat on his back with a fever. However, Lisbeth Salander has been keeping me company, as well as the residents of Downton Abbey (I am completely engrossed!).
For you Anglophiles:
* don't you just love a good mystery?
* The Gardens of English Heritage (a favorite wedding gift)
* and Thomas Lawrence visits Yale in February
Thank you for kind all your wishes on my last post! I am on the mend, slowly, slowly.
P.S. There are more blizzard photographs in my winter set on flickr.

Downton Abbey did not disappoint last night; I can't wait for the next episode!
Maggie Smith as a dowager countess and a bit of naughtiness between a duke and a footman all within the first hour . . . fantastic. I also like when the brits do brits - the correct forms of address and etc.

Hope you and the gentleman are on the mend. Downton was so delightful. Watching it again online today. xoxo
There is something to be said for being ill in tandem. Feel better. Barbara
Downton was good and Maggie Smith outshone them all - as usual.
I saw the Thomas Lawrence exhibit in London last weekend and it was superb! I'll probably make a trip north to see it again.
Oh, I am so glad to know all my peeps are watching Downton too! Hurrah for the costume drama in the midst of football playoffs!!!
BWS ~ I think I have finally turned the corner. Alas, the poor gentleman, he has the flu.
Blue ~ I am so looking forward to the Lawrence show. Will definitely make my way to New Haven for that one. Would love to see it hung in London, however.
Yes LOVED Downton Abbey last night. I could barely keep up visually - I kept wanting to pause it to take in all the details!
Love that condensation image - like a Robert Motherwell.
Interesting that Downton Abbey is a hit in the US. It seems to have been quite popular here too: the Brits, too, like watching the Brits doing Brits :)
