Pink peonies for Courtney! Buckets and buckets of them.I have learned that every now and then one simply needs to give into the season and revel in the bounty. For example:
My mother tells the story of my great-grandmother making strawberry shortcake for sunday lunch. Just that, strawberry shortcake. Served on her pink-flowered Haviland china. So, when I spied fresh local berries at yesterday's market (the first of the season), I decided to continue the family tradition. Hot biscuits baked from scratch, whipped cream with a dash of elderflower syrup, and sweet red berries. All piled high. I think the gentleman was a bit incredulous when I handed him his lunch. For real? Yes, for real. . . enjoy.

Thank you! Beautiful, beautiful.
I saw your Tweet earlier. My mouth is still watering.
Just saw the Snippet & Ink post. Congratulations!
I just found you via the Snippet & Ink post, and wanted to say how absolutely gorgeous you and your wedding are/were! Well done on pulling together such a lovely day...I hope it was magical. My favorite touch? The coral beads. Amazing. Props to your hubby!!

Rebekka ~ thank you so much for stopping by and leaving behind such lovely words! Our wedding was indeed magical, the perfect fall day. The coral beads were amazing. . . and a COMPLETE surprise!
As you know, the pink flowered Haviland china is waiting for you in the basement....xo
What a wonderful idea! Still a bit early for local strawberries here but I will keep this in mind. I have my grandmother's dessert set with green floral plates. Another sister has the set that is hot pink and white; but shortcake would look lovely on either set. Maybe when you have a bit more space you can redeem your china set from the basement.
Ms. Wis ~ oh, I do hope you make strawberry shortcake and serve it on those green floral plates. I can't think of anything more wonderful!
am loving all of your photos.
