With the kitchen down to the studs and the floor down to the subfloor and the fridge down to the basement, apples and pears are a big part of daily life around here. It's a lovely miracle they go well with cheeses, nuts and bread and, of course, the remodelers' go to cure for all things—wine!

October, my birth month, is one of my very favorite times of the year. Enjoy!
