a new year

I always look forward to a new year. I love the quiet and calm that new year's day brings, and the sense of hope one has for the coming year. Even though we inevitably bring our baggage along with us, a new year somehow feels like a clean slate. History waiting to be written.

We make lists and resolutions. We clean house, and start fresh. The glitter and pomp of Christmas ~ as much as I love it ~ begins to seem like clutter. I yearn for simple things, like a warm wool blanket, a cup of tea, and a new book.

So, here are some things I'm looking forward to enjoying this new year:

* a new taste
* a new bottle
* a new coat
* a new book (inspiring a new project)
* and some new adventures. . .

Happy New Year, friends!

Happy New Year! LOVE port (did you hear the port discussion on the splendid table last weekend?) and the new coat is just divine. Are you planning a trip to Scotland, land of my peoples?

Happy New Year JCB! Each year I love hanging my bird on the tree - that you sent to me a few years ago. I also love visiting you here as I always look forward to your yearnings.
Love your tastes and your selections always make me pine for calm simplicities.
Cheers to 2012 with a glass of port enveloped in a lovely blanket of wintry white, perhaps a quilt all in whites and creams....
Happy travels kindred soul~

Happy new year!!! Coincidentally, we gave that book to Aunt Mary Kay for Christmas, and it is really beautiful and full of incredible inspiration. Can't wait to see this new project as it unfolds (no pun intended). xxoo

Stefan ~ I think you'll have to come over for a snort of that Port! We have a brand new bottle of 10-year tawny. Yes, Scotland bound indeed!!!

pve ~ I am so glad you love the bird. You had to have it of course! And I hope your holidays were merry and bright, and that you are now enjoying those quiet winter moments. (A glass of Port and a quilt in white and creams. . . you know my too well).

Anne ~ It's a GREAT book. Joel's mom gave it to me for Christmas. It's just the inspiration I need to get going on that quilt. I'll bring it to the next Points.
