Some eye candy for a Thursday afternoon. Found this on The Textile Museum website ~ the "textile of the month" ~ a 19th-century Japanese raincoat (made from indigo-dyed cotton treated with oil, and lined with a katazome fabric). Generally overshadowed by Washington's larger museums, the Textile Museum is a hidden gem, tucked away in a historic building in Kalorama with a lovely garden. And (lucky me!), I live within walking distance.(image via The Textile Musuem)
