time out for poffertjes

Ahhh. . . that little Dutch pancake topped with a massive slab of butter and powdered sugar. Just in case you thought that while in the Netherlands all I consumed was raw herring and white asparagus, I must introduce you to the reason I may not fit into a wedding dress come October: the poffertje. I ate mine with fresh June strawberries, in the Grote Markt at Haarlem.

Another fabulous house tomorrow.

Happy tuesday!

If you have time or waistline, try a pannakoek met spek en apple - there went my waistline!

I look forward to the next historic house, but you must follow it with dessert again!

Looks like all four food groups to me. Love October. It's my birthday month. In your part of the world nature will provide a blazing backdrop to this historical event.

Architecture and food, food and architecture. I consume both avidly, too often at the same time.

Gawd, those are gorgeous little pancakes items

First raw herring, then white asparagus and now this...
a visual palette of white and cream for an October bride. I shall be creating a special work of art for you in a palette of creams.

Blue ~ it is far too hard to resist that perfect combination of sweet and salty. Perhaps after october...

mom ~ I will see what I can cook up.

hbd ~ October is a good month for birthdays...and celebrations of all sorts! We will be celebrating on our wedding day what would have been my grandfather's 100th birthday.

DED ~ you see, that is why they created dining rooms!!!

pve ~ your sweetness overwhelms! Those autumn whites and cream are pure confection.
