comfort food

Being on grand jury means that one has odd stretches of time with little or nothing to do. I generally spend it stitching ~ and day dreaming about all the food I would cook if I had time to cook it. Like Nikole's fig and chambord jam. And roasted fingerling potatoes with rosemary and sea salt (Andy, you inspired me!). Or using the last of the summer peaches to make cobbler. Mmmm...and mini provolone popovers (which I would serve with that pork tenderloin I have in mind).

Anyway, I stopped by the bookstore on the way home last night and picked up the current issue of Jamie (the "British Issue"!), and a beautiful new cookbook ~ Earth to Table: Seasonal Recipes from an Organic Farm. More inspiration to put on hold.

Hope you are eating well these days....

Janet-

'Earth to Table' sounds immediately delicious.

i don't cook, but I admire people who love to do it.

I do read cookbooks...they make wonderful reading. I just want to then start working...on a recipe.

Love your peaches and potatoes and squashes...sounds like fall. Delicious.

Yummmmm...

My mum was telling me about a salad she made with mixed greens, figs, goat cheese, sliced alonds and a raspberry vinaigrette.

Yummy. Spring used to be my favorite, but fall is edging closer. My birthday month, the turn of the leaves and the bounty of harvest. This linky thing you bloggers do with books has been hell on my budget! Thanks always for all your delicious thoughts. I don't know your way of roasting potatoes but I roll them in a light coating of olive oil. Better than fried any day. Hope the jury thing is over soon.

Diane ~ cookbooks do make terribly good reading don't they?!

Meg ~ yummy salad...I will have to add it to the repertoire!

Michael ~ you will need some patience...it is going to be a while before I have time to actually cook!

home before dark ~ yes, always a light coating of olive oil. Then sprinkle them with salt and toss with rosemary. So easy. Enjoy!
