snow day

Not a good day for a lunch-time walk. But, I took one anyway.

Today is the 235th anniversary of Jane Austen's birth. Born in 1775, at the beginning of a bitter cold winter (so cold that it was one of the last times the River Thames froze over). But goodness, how much sunny pleasure has she given us all over the years!

I am also excited (and very honored) to tell you that our wedding is featured over on Style Court today. Throughout the planning process, Courtney was the loveliest of confidants, ever enthusiastic as I pestered her with each and every detail ~ and I am so grateful for her kindness. Thank you all for such nice words as well! I am glad we could share our day with you.

Well, it was such a treat and honor to be in on bits of the planning and I was thrilled when you agreed to let me share your story. Hope Joel isn't finding the attention too annoying! What a good sport.

Oh and leave it to you to find beauty in a day when most of us are thinking about the traffic and the mess :)

It was a glorious celebration of two people who love each other to no end and share a passion for the arts, good food, and travel! Never have two people been better suited for one another.~MIR

It was a delight to see your wedding from Courtney's perspective. And I have to say that the pair of you are one very photogenic couple!

Your post answers the question of why my blog got 2,000 hits today — all on the topic of Jane Austen. Could not figure it out until I read the text below your magical misty images ...

Lovely photos. I remember growing up in Washington that the city would shut down at the mere mention of snow as a possibility, and cars would go careening out of control and slam into each other when there was just a dusting of the white stuff. Reggie

Back in the olden days, one of my favorite things to do was walk around Boston in the snow.

The Style Court post is just terrific. All very special, with exactly the pure and simple elegance that attends to everything you do.

I just saw Style Court's wonderful photo essay!

We enjoyed the snow at our house too...it was the first time little Mr. W was aware of the "snowy" and of course wanted to walk in it and touch it. How dare it melt!

Courtney ~ Joel is secretly monitoring the comments on your post.

MIR ~ kiss, kiss!

Reggie ~ I can assure you, not much has changed.

DED ~ nothing like a good snowstorm to get me to don my boots and run out of the door...

Anne ~ Touch it, hold it! The wonder of a snowflake. I posted one for Mr. W today.
