patina

At Housewerks in Baltimore several weeks ago. On an outing with the marvelous Meg.

I am inexplicably drawn to rusty old bits, and things with patina. I think it might in part be the color. Three nights ago I found myself complimenting a neighbor on his gorgeous orange-silk tie, saying "rust is the new black." (Honestly, I have no idea where I came up with that.)

More from Baltimore tomorrow...and an update on the herb garden.

Push patina. I am so totally tired of everyone fixing everything up. I miss the worn finishes of my childhood.

Channeling your inner Diane Vreeland and making pronouncements, huh?

And I die for those Gothic shutters. I had a set once, along with the windows. Sold the windows to the set designer for 'Man Without a Face", watched the whole movie in vain for them. Go figure.

Love the outing troubee also.

Cheers

That's some seriously yummie rust there. Like the Dilettante, I love your 'Rust is the new black' - much more appropriate than 'Heritage is the new sex', which a National Trust communications person came up with a few years ago!

I am constantly frustrated by those who polish up the patina.

DED ~ I do believe Maine still has a good corner on the rust market...! But, I know what you say. Incidentally, I believe the shutters are still available...

Emile ~ the NT is welcome to run with my new slogan. I haven't trademarked it (yet).

We are all going to appropriate your new "rust" mantra. What a great phrase, DV works anytime, any place!
